The 30-year-old Brazilian was a rock at the centre of Chennaiyin’s defence. He has played for clubs like Botafogo and Santos before and the quality was evident in his performance. He marked Miku wonderfully and thwarted a lot of Bengaluru attacks. He was good at defending from set-pieces and had a commanding aerial presence. His 1.89 Metre frame makes him a formidable presence in the air.
When Bengaluru were playing a high line, he went up and snatched some balls in the midfield too. With his tactical awareness and good tackling, he can play as a defensive midfielder too. He is very strong physically too and therefore, opposition strikers would find it very difficult to overpower him. Overall, the Brazilian looked to bring a lot to the table and should be a mainstay of the Bengaluru defence in the upcoming games.
