Indian Super League franchise Atlético de Kolkata have signed Spanish midfielder Javier 'Javi' Lara Grande ahead of their title defence in the ISL - Season 2.
The 29-year-old Montoro-born Javier Lara Grande, better known as Javi Lara, came through the local Córdoba CF youth set-up and played a few seasons for the Córdoba CF 'B' team with loan spells with CD Villanueva, Real Unión Club de Irún and Écija Balompié in-between.
In 2007 he left Córdoba and became a journeyman with spells at UD Almería B, RSD Alcalá, Elche CF, CD Alcoyano, Valencia B, Lucena CF, CD Alcoyano, and SD Ponferradina in the lower leagues of Spanish football. The last season midfielder Javi Lara spend at promoted La Liga side SD Eibar, his first season in the Spanish top flight.
Now Javi Lara joins defending ISL champions Atlético de Kolkata with coach Antonio López Habas hoping that Javi Lara gives the team depth in midfield and another option in creativity in the middle of the park.
