Jadavpur University confer degree of Doctor in Literature on Baichung Bhutia

Baichung Bhutia was conferred an honorary degree by Jadavpur University

Former India captain Baichung Bhutia has been conferred the Degree of Doctor in Literature (honoris causa) at the special convocation of Jadavpur University held on December 24, 2014. He was honoured for his unparalleled contribution to the field of Indian football.Baichung said he was extremely touched and grateful to the Jadavpur University for bestowing this honour upon him. He hoped that this recognition of sporting achievement by an esteemed institution such as JU would go a long way in promoting the sport amongst India's youth.The latest recognition for Baichung comes after the former Indian national team captain was inducted into the AFC's Hall of Fame by the Asian Football Confederation only last month on November 30 in Manila.
