Kohima Komets win 19th Classic Cup in Nagaland

Kohima Komets thrashed Elite FC 8-0 to lift the 19th Classic Cup in front of a sell-out crowd in the Nagaland capital. Kohima Komets were dominant throughout the tournament as they scored 40 goals in six matches.

In the final, Daviekho Mazamo opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Tingyek Konyak doubled the lead in the 35th minute and Kezhoshe Khizho Mathew made it 3-0 in the 42nd minute and it stayed that way until the break.

After the break Yhanshalo Kemp (50th, 70th minute), Lalngshinglova (60th minute), Bamdi (64th minute) and Mani Kanta(85th minute) added five more for Kohima Komets to finish the match 8-0.

The prizes after the final were distributed by Merentoshi R. Jamir, Nagaland’s Minister for Youth Resources and Sports. Champions Kohima Komets received Rs. 100,000 (1 lakh), a trophy and certificates; while runners–up-Elite FC received Rs. 50,000, a trophy and certificates.
