Liverpool FC International Football Academy – DSK Shivajians host finals of Schoolympics football tournament

DSK Shivaijians hosted the finals of the Schoolympics football tournament in Pune

Mumbai 15th November, 2014, India Liverpool FC International Football Academy – DSK Shivajians hosted the finals of Schoolympics football tournament yesterday. In what was a lop-sided final, the team from Krida Prabodhini lifted the winners trophy by defeating the Bishops Camp by 6 goals to nil.

The semi finals held between Krida Prabodhini, Bishops Camp, JN Petit and Bishops Undri were also held at the 4G turf at the Academy campus, located at DSK Dream City.

‘Schoolympics’- an unique initiative by the Sakal Group offers an excellent opportunity to schoolgoing children, highlighting the importance of sports education in their lives.

Commenting on this event Mr. Shirish Kulkarni, President, Liverpool FC International Football Academy- DSK Shivajians said, “We at Liverpool FC International Football Academy – DSK Shivajians believe that sports play a major role in the holistic development of children and are of equal importance as school and classroom education.

An initiative like Schoolympics is definitely a great platform and way to inculcate the importance of perseverance, team work and spirit of sportsmanship amongst children. It will go in a long way in moulding them as strong and responsible individuals.”

The winning team was felicitated by Mr. Michael Rice, Academy Coach, Liverpool International Football Academy – DSK Shivajians.

In its first year, ‘Schoolympics’ witnessed participation from 280 schools across Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad with over 325 events organised. The campaign started on November 3 and will go on till December 18.
