The Indian senior women's football team, on Thursday, June 20, announced the probable squad for the upcoming Kolkata camp. Head coach Langam Chaoba Devi named 29 players for the National Camp. The camp is set to begin on June 26 at the National Centre for Excellence in Kolkata.
India are ranked 67th at present in the FIFA Rankings. They were last seen in action against Uzbekistan when they toured them for two friendly matches on May 31 and June 4. The first game ended in a crushing 0-3 defeat for the Blue Tigeresses. However, they fought back hard in the next game to draw 0-0.
The Indian senior women's football team is also gearing up to take on Myanmar in two friendly matches. They will tour Myanmar and the games will be played in Yangon on July 9 and July 12, 2024, during the FIFA Women's International Window. Speaking of the opposition, Myanmar are ranked 54th at present.
With the matches being conducted on FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying match days, it will be an opportunity for both teams to assess their strengths and weaknesses. They will aim to gather invaluable experience as they look for success at the regional and international levels.
Five players made it back to the Indian senior women's football team probables squad, which was announced by the Indian Football Team on their official X handle. These include Elangbam Panthoi Chanu, Devi Devarajan, Ratanbala Devi Nongmaithem, Mousumi Murmu, and Rimpa Haldar.
