Salgaocar SC has completed the signing of former Pune FC vice-captain Douhou Pierre. By joining the Goan club, the midfielder will reunite with his former manager at Pune FC, Derek Pereira.
Pierre who is one of the most creative players in the I-League, has featured in every match for Pune FC this season. When Goal contacted Salgaocar SC, the club officials refused to deny that Pierre will join the club, but did not to give an “official word on it”. But today, the official Facebook page of the club posted “Pune FC’s talismanic midfielder, Douhou Pierre signs on the dotted line for Salgaocar FC for the upcoming season!”
It was at Mahindra United that the 27 year old attacking midfielder first played under the current Salgaocar boss. Pierre can play in various positions – as a winger, as an attacking midfielder (which is preferred the most) or even as a second striker.
Pierre also won the Pune FC player of the year in 2011-12 and was also nominated for Football Players Association of India’s (FPAI) Fans’ Player of the Year award. He has signed a one year contract.
