The renowned Tata Football Academy (TFA) have won the 2013-14 Under-19 I-League following their 4-0 victory over Hindustan FC at the Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur on Tuesday.
TFA finished the final round of the U-19 I-League campaign as unbeaten with 13 points from five matches while East Bengal finished runners-up with 10 points. The other three teams that competed in the final round were Sesa Football Academy, Shillong Lajong and AIFF Academy.
TFA striker and India youth international Udanta Singh finished as the top scorer with nine goals in five games.
“It was a complete team effort. That is just it! Everybody worked together, the players, as well as the entire coaching staff – our goalkeeping coach Gumpe Rime, the assistant coaches, all the backroom staff, just everyone,” TFA head coach Shakti Chauhan was quoted saying.
This was the fourth edition of the youth I-League with Pune FC winning back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013 while JCT won the inaugural edition in 2011.
