The South Asian Football Federation has confirmed that the southern India city of Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) would be hosting the upcoming 2015/16 SAFF Cup from December 23, 2015, to January 2, 2016. The SAFF Cup had originally been planned to be played in June 2015, but due to the congested Indian football calendar and monsoons, the South Asian Football Federation decided to postpone the competition.
In total eight nations would compete for the title. Amongst them defending champions Afghanistan, hosts India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
In the last tournament, Afghanistan had beat India 2-0 in the final in Kathmandu in September 2013.
