Cristiano Ronaldo last night won the Best FIFA Footballer award for 2017. A huge number of players and sports journalists vote around the globe for their 3 best players for the past season in the hierarchical order.

The Indian football team captain and talisman Sunil Chhetri and coach Stephen Constantine were also a part of the voting process, and voted for their 3 favorite players of the season.

Chhetri rated Real Madrid defender and captain Sergio Ramos the highest. The Real Madrid and Spain national football team captain won the UEFA Champions League and La Liga for the 2016-17 season and has arguably been the best defender in the world in previous few seasons.

His other two votes went to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the same order. Cristiano Ronaldo also completed the double alongside Ramos, however Messi could only manage to win the Copa Del Ray last season. Chhetri preferred players like him, who could lead the team and carry them almost single-handedly with consistent performances.

Stephen Constantine, who has previously coached Malawi, Sudan and Rwanda national football teams, knows how hard it is for an African footballer to become one of the best in the world.

His first vote went to the Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, followed by the Chelsea race horse N'Golo Kante, who repeated his Premier League success with 2 clubs in as many years. His third and final vote went to the Madrid playmaker Tooni Kroos. The out of the box choices of Constantine show why his thought process which has helped India rise up the world ranks as well.
