The Andretti family is arguably the most successful in IndyCar with Mario, Michael, and Marco Andretti at the helm of its success. However, there are two more members, Mario’s son Jeff Andretti, and Aldo’s son John Andretti. Unfortunately, Jeff and John didn't achieve much success in the American Open Wheel racing series.

Let's look at the careers of these five members of the Andretti family and rank them based on their IndyCar career.

#5 Jeff Andretti

Jeff Andretti raced in the Indy Lights in the '80s and finished as the runner-up twice. He joined CART (now IndyCar) in 1990 as a part-timer. 1991 was his first and only full-time season in the open-wheel championship. He finished 15th in the IndyCar championship and became the rookie of the year.

Jeff participated in 23 IndyCar races over five years with his best result a P7 finish at the 1991 Gold Coast IndyCar Grand Prix.

#4 John Andretti

John Andretti began his open-wheel racing career in 1987 driving for Curb racing. He left the full-time role at the end of the 1992 season to race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup. He returned to IndyCar in the late 2000s as a part-time driver and mostly raced just in the Indy 500.

John participated in 83 IndyCar and Champ races over 13 years and managed just a win and two podium finishes. His best championship finish was eighth in the years 1991 and 1992.

#3 Marco Andretti

The IndyCar family expected a lot from the third generation of racing drivers, including Michael's son and Mario's grandson, Marco. However, Marco Andretti never reached his full potential. 2006 was his debut year in IndyCar, and he retired from a full-time role at the end of the 2020 season. He still participates in the Indy 500 as a part-time entry for Andretti Global.

Marco amassed two wins and 20 podiums during his 252-race-long IndyCar career with the best finish of fifth in the championship in 2013.

#2 Michael Andretti

Michael Andretti is the son of F1 and IndyCar champion Mario. The 62-year-old made his IndyCar debut in 1983 and retired from the full-time role at the end of the 2002 season. He raced as a part-timer until the 2007 Indy 500 and announced his official retirement.

Michael won 42 IndyCar races over his 317-race career and collected 100 podium finishes. He won the championship in 1991 and finished as the runner-up five times.

#1 Mario Andretti

The Andretti member who started the legacy, the first-generation driver of the motor racing family, Mario Andretti began his career as a part-time driver in IndyCar and won the championship in 1965 and 1966. He then moved to the world of F1 in 1968, becoming the F1 World champion in 1978.

Mario won two more IndyCar titles in 1969 and 1984 to become a four-time champion. Over 31 years, the 84-year-old raced in 407 IndyCar series races, won 52, and stood on the podium 141 times.
