Courtney Force is a former NHRA racer and the daughter of Drag Racing legend John Force. All four of John Force's daughters have been involved in the NHRA at some point in their careers following in their father's footsteps. Courtney was featured in a YouTube video in April 2012 where she talked about her on-track relationship with her father.
Courtney Force was questioned about sharing the tarmac with her father in a video uploaded on the YouTube channel Traxxas. She explained how the on-track lessons with her father on the track continued into their disscusions back home. She said,
“It is definitely fun working with my dad. I mean, I grew up in the sport of NHRA drag racing and I've always been a fan of it. I mean, I grew up watching my dad race these 300 mile per hour funny cars and I just thought, dang, I think that's exciting. I want to grow up, I want to be just like my dad and I want to race a car right next time in the other lane.” (0:05 onwards)
“It's definitely a lot of fun. And I like working with my dad. He’s tough on me sometimes and it definitely is fun. Dad doesn't really know how to turn the switch off from boss to father, which makes things a little tough. But I mean, when we're back home, all he's talking about is racing and, you know, anything that he thinks I need to improve. So, I mean, it works. I guess I'm used to it,” she added
Courtney Force raced for her dad's NHRA team John Force Racing all her career. She ran in the NHRA funny car category and announced her retirement from motorsport at the end of 2019. Courtney married IndyCar driver Graham Rahal in 2015, two years after they met at the NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.
Courtney Force highlighted “personal choice” when she announced her retirement
Courtney Force retired from NHRA at the age of 30, which is considered to be the prime of a racing driver. During her nine-year-long drag racing career Courtney had a career-best speed of 338.68 miles per hour and won 12 races.
She highlighted how the retirement was a personal choice as the team statement read, (via Drive.com)
“This was a personal choice as I feel I’m ready to see what the next chapter in my life has in store for me while spending more time with family.”
“I intend to remain involved in the industry I love and continue to work with a few select partners as I go forward in 2019. I am so thankful that I have had the opportunity to have such a successful career at John Force Racing and the privilege of working with so many incredible people while racing against competitors who pushed me to be a better driver,” she added
Courtney’s youngest sister Brittany is an active NHRA driver and races in the Top Fuel Dragster category. John Force's eldest daughter Adria Hight is the CFO of JFR.
