Danica Patrick wrapped up her 2024 broadcasting stint with the F1 arm of Sky Sports at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. On Tuesday (Dec.10), the most successful female IndyCar driver penned a note to encapsulate her experience covering the 2024 season.
Patrick, who has a net worth of $80 million (via Celebrity Net Worth), joined the Sky Sports team in 2021 just before the United States Grand Prix. Since then, she has been a recurring staple in the team. In 2024, she covered seven out of 24 races. Two days after the season finale at the Yas Marina Circuit, she shared a few photos from her last Sky Sports appearance for the year on X, and wrote:
"What a fun year to be reporting on F1 and be at the last race in Abu Dhabi! So many winners and so many story lines! 2025 is going to be lit! 🏁 Most of all… I love my sky sports crew. They make work fun and are also incredibly talented and I learn from them every weekend!🎥"
Danica Patrick's reappointment in 2024 was met with criticism from some F1 fans. She had stirred controversy on more than one occasion in the previous season, including showing cynicism over the possibility of female drivers succeeding at the pinnacle of motorsport.
Danica Patrick predicts Lando Norris will trump Max Verstappen to take his first F1 championship in 2025
The 2024 F1 season began with the status quo of defending champion Max Verstappen nonchalantly outclassing his rivals with seven wins in the first ten races. However, once Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferrari rose to the challenge, the Dutchman went the next ten races without a victory.
Lando Norris suddenly became a championship contender midway through the season, but the significant points gap to Verstappen got the better of him. But the Briton has established himself as a potential champion of the future. He won four races in 2024, taking the fourth at the season finale with a lights-to-flag victory.
During the post-race show in Abu Dhabi, Danica Patrick declared Norris as her pick for the 2025 drivers' champion and McLaren for the constructors'.
"I feel like from Silverstone on, you can really see that leap. Of course, once the drivers started getting their wins this year, I think that both Lando and Oscar will have learned so much this year, so much success came all of a sudden. I truly think that it’s McLaren’s year next year and I really do think Lando… I mean he’s my pick," Danica Patrick said (via Crash.net).
It remains to be seen if Sky Sports will re-sign Patrick for more appearances as a pundit for the 2025 F1 season that will get with the Australian Grand Prix on March 16.
