Max Verstappen got behind the wheel of the Acura ARX-06 GTP under the Meyer Shank Racing tag ahead of the 2024 F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. He was joined by teammate Sergio Perez and VCARB drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson.

While Verstappen piloted the prototype, Tsunoda went behind the steering of the IndyCar. The latter's teammate drove the Acura Integra, meanwhile, Perez had his chance with Honda's Rally Hyrbid. All four drivers were behind different wheels, all under the Honda and MSR tag. The latter is preparing its return to the IMSA Sportscar Championship in the 2025 season.

This was a promotional event for Acura. The ARX-06 GTP debuted during the 2023 24 Hours of Daytona and managed to win in the GTP class. It was also victorious at the Chevrolet Grand Prix and the Petit Le Mans, all events sanctioned under the IMSA.

Powered by a 2.4-L V6 engine, the ARX-06 produces 670 horsepower and has a 50kW hybrid system. It weighs around 1,030 kg. Clips shared on social media featured the $90 million worth (via Celebrity Net Worth) Red Bull Racing star pushing the machinery on the track. This was his first time behind the wheel of a GTP car.

Glancing at F1, Max Verstappen is comfortably leading and looks to be on his way to winning his fourth consecutive drivers' championship this season with Red Bull. However, he has not dominated the grid like in the past two seasons, with Lando Norris his closest challenger.

Recently, McLaren Racing's CEO commented about the Dutchman's driving style, likely addressing the incidents that were in the spotlight in Texas and Mexico.

McLaren CEO comments on Max Verstappen's driving style: "Have to show him where the limits are"

McLaren CEO Zak Brown discussed Verstappen's aggressive driving style, and said that while the 27-year-old is an "incredible driver," he sometimes needs to be reminded about the rules and their limits.

"Max is an incredible racing driver who pushes the rules to the limit. But you have to show him where the limits are."

Brown further supported his statement by reminiscing about his 2021 rivalry with Lewis Hamilton.

"If that isn't done, you'll end up with scenes like the one between Lewis and Max in 2021, when Lewis said to himself: enough is enough. I don't think we want to go back to that."

During the United States Grand Prix in Texas, Norris shared an intense battle with Verstappen. The McLaren was given a penalty after he overtook the Red Bull off the track. Following this battle to Mexico, the two drivers went wheel-to-wheel as Verstappen pushed Norris off the track. He was subsequently penalized for this action.

Heading into Las Vegas, if the defending champion wins, he will be crowned the world champion. Norris can keep the title fight alive if he outscores the Dutchman by three points. Meanwhile, McLaren is leading the constructors' championship, under threat from Ferrari and Red Bull.
