Josef Newgarden was featured in the latest IndyCar promo which was uploaded on the IndyCar on FOX X account (formerly Twitter). The promo was launched in light of the upcoming IndyCar season which starts on March 2, 2025. Fans took to the comments and quotes section of X as they reacted to the promotion.
FOX took over the rights for the exclusive broadcast from NBC of the IndyCar starting with the 2025 season. The promotion started during the off-season and FOX has now launched the latest video which features the Team Penske driver Newgarden.
The 45-second-long promo video painted Josef Newgarden as a hero and exaggerated all the aspects of his racing life in a hilarious manner. The Penske driver was called the greatest action hero in the promo along with being praised for his jawline and the kids' book written by him.
As fans took to the comments section, a user mentioned how FOX hasn't produced a single promo for NASCAR as good as the Newgarden IndyCar promo. FOX already broadcasts NASCAR races and will also be airing action from IndyCar from this year.
One fan said, “This is better than any promo FOX has done for nascar in years”
Josef Newgarden's fellow Penske teammate Scott McLaughlin wrote, “This is so good. I’m so excited for our era with @IndyCarOnFOX.”
"If I was nascar I would take FOX out of the NASCAR on the next TV deal," mentioned another fan.
Another user mentioned, "Better than any promo indycar has had too. A very unexpected banger all around."
Josef Newgarden uploaded stories on his Instagram in December as he shot a promotional video with the marketing agency Race Service. However, it wasn't clear whether the shots were for Team Penske or IndyCar. The Newgarden promo also featured NFL quarterback Tom Brady, as a fan mentioned:
“FOX is clearly going all-in on their IndyCar coverage. Using Brady in this spot is a big deal.”
"Tom Brady in an Indycar ad. The sport might reach stratospheric levels now," a fan wrote.
“Love this, might start watching IndyCar, the marketing worked,” mentioned a user.
Former IndyCar engineer and reporter Marshall Pruett said, “Monster opening to @IndyCarOnFOX's promotion of the series' drivers. Bravo.”
Josef Newgarden won the 2024 Indy 500 and became the first person in over two decades to win the race back-to-back as he also won the greatest spectacle in racing in 2023.
“Show our stories in a great way”: Josef Newgarden hailed FOX following the broadcast deal
IndyCar announced the multi-year media rights deal with FOX in June 2024. Josef Newgarden was featured on the Pit Pass Indy podcast episode uploaded on December 25, 2024, and the Penske driver emphasized how FOX will do justice to the IndyCar series by going the extra mile. He said:
“From my vantage point, I think Fox has already hit the ground running when it comes to 2025. There's not been a lot of prep time for everybody, but we are coming in with full force and I think FOX will be pivotal in our championship and what IndyCar represents in this story that we're gonna be projecting.” (29:00 onwards)
“I think they will do our championship justice. I think they will show our stories in a great way and they'll bring it to a wider audience.”
FOX will be cross-promoting IndyCar during the other events that are broadcast by them, which include NASCAR and NFL.
