Prema’s 2025 IndyCar driver Callum Ilott’s girlfriend Caterina Masetti Zannini uploaded a story on her Instagram on the 12th of December as she revealed that there was an attempt to steal her car. She posted a picture of the car along with a message for the one who tried stealing the car.
Caterina Zannini was in Bologna when the auto theft attempt took place. The caption to the story uploaded by Callum Ilott's girlfriend read:
“To whoever tried to steal my car, big f*** you”.
Zannini then went on to tag the Mayor of Bologna, Matteo Lepore in the next part of her caption as she sarcastically called the attempt to steal her car “Handsome”.
It read, “In pieno centro a Bologna di giovedì pomeriggio. Bello. @matteoleporebo” which translates to, “In the center of Bologna on a Thursday afternoon. Handsome. @matteoleporebo”
Callum Ilott’s girlfriend is an Italian national and was born in Bologna. The 25-year-old is an engineer, and is currently pursuing Sports Journalism at the RCS Academy in Milan, Italy.

“Got a picture with my idol and the lovely @amanda.newey”
Callum Ilott on the other hand, finished as the runner-up in the 2020 F2 Championship and then moved to racing GT cars and part-time in IndyCar. The Brit will be racing for the newest IndyCar team, Prema, for the 2025 IndyCar season alongside Robert Shwartzman.
“His prior IndyCar experience will be an invaluable asset”: Prema owner hails Callum Ilott after signing him for 2025 season
Callum Ilott was at the receiving end of hate on social media in 2023 after an incident with then JHR teammate Agustin Canapino. According to the reports the team failed to resolve the issue with the online hate and when Ilott publicly admitted to the issue, it led to a falling out with the team.
Prema owner Rene Rosin said (via Prema Racing's official website):
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Callum back with us for this new chapter of our history. We had a great time working with him in Formula 3, and we always kept an eye on him after that. He proved to be a great fit for us in the past, and I think he will feel like picking up something he had left off.”
“He proved his outstanding speed skills everywhere he competed. In addition, his prior IndyCar experience will be an invaluable asset. Now that the opportunity to get back together has come, we are determined to make the most out of it," he added.
During the 2024 season, Ilott participated in only three IndyCar races including the Indy 500 for Arrow McLaren.
