Reigning three-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou revealed how he gives out life lessons to his 11-month-old daughter Lucia. Palou and his wife Esther welcomed their first child in December of last year.

Chip Ganassi Racing superstar and Spanish driver Alex Palou won his third NTT IndyCar Series championship earlier this year. The 27-year-old driver clinched his second consecutive title piloting the No. 10 Honda for CGR.

While a consistent performer on the track, Palou has also been a shining father figure off it. The Barcelona native, in a recent conversation with Canadian driver and commentator James Hinchcliffe, shared how he gives out major lessons of life to his young daughter.

Hinchcliffe, referring to Palou's Instagram stories, talked about how competitive the latter gets when competing with his daughter. The Spaniard reflected on how he uses games like UNO to impart important life lessons to his young daughter. He said:

"Did you see the picture when I had plus five laid out? She was not expecting that. She needs to get ready for life. In general it's like that. Everybody cheats around you. Everybody. When I mean everybody, it's everybody. I'm just showing her that even her dad is gonna cheat and that's fine. She needs to keep working, and it is what it is."

Alex Palou does not wish for his daughter to pursue racing

In the interview, when asked by Hinchcliffe whether he feels he is raising a competitive child, Alex Palou responded:

"I hope so. I hope so."

Palou emphasized that he wants Lucia to pursue her passions, whether in sports, music, or other creative fields. He said:

"I don't mind if she wants to be a professional golfer or a professional tennis player, I'm not gonna push her too much. Or if she wants to be the best musician ever. Whatever she wants.
"But it has to be between those things that I said. Anything she wants, she can choose as long as it's on this list."

Palou also candidly expressed reservations about his daughter following in his footsteps as a racing driver. He stated:

"No. It's too hard to get to the point you want to be at. I think there's so many moving things that has to go right. You need to have a little bit of talent. You need to have other resources. Which I didn't have. It was hard and I don't know how I got here."

Even though Alex Palou is averse to the idea of his kid following in his footsteps, several racing kids have been known to have an interest in racing tracks.
