Dutch IndyCar driver Rinus VeeKay’s wife made her pro boxing debut on November 23rd in Mexico. Carmen VeeKay won the match and her husband shared an Instagram post to celebrate the victory. Fellow IndyCar driver Felix Rosenqvist commented on the Dutchman's post to offer his congratulations.

Carmen faced Siria Sánchez in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and won the match by unanimous decision. Rinus posted a picture of his wife being declared the winner on Instagram followed by a picture of himself supporting her and holding the Dutch national flag. He captioned the post:

“SHE DID IT!!! Winning her pro debut with a unanimous decision. You worked so hard for this, I'm one proud husband.”

Meyer Shank Racing driver Rosenqvist commented on the post:

"Bravo!”

As per Tapology, Siria Sánchez’s pro boxing record was 1-7-1 (Win-Loss-Draw) before the match with Carmen. Sánchez was on a winning streak after defeating Jennifer Prats on September 21st.

Rinus VeeKay’s wife uploaded a celebratory post on Instagram which included a smiling photo with Sánchez after the fight and a photo with fellow gym boxer Danilo Diez. She thanked Sweatbox Boxing Gym (the gym where she trains) in the caption:

"Winner by unanimous decision!!! 1-0 baby! Thanks @sweatboxboxinggym, @thepeterkahn, @andy_athletics_ for setting me up for success🥊❤️"

Carmen VeeKay seemingly stayed in Mexico after her fight and celebrated the victory. Her Instagram stories suggested that she hung out with friends on the beach and dined at the RosaNegra restaurant in Tulum.

On the IndyCar front, Rinus parted ways with Ed Carpenter Racing in September. He participated in the IMS test last month as it was an opportunity for the Dutchman to audition for a future seat in the series.

“I might have created an opportunity” - Rinus VeeKay following the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Test

Rinus VeeKay participated in the IMS session in October in the Dale Coyne Racing car. The Dutchman impressed the grid with his blistering pace as he ended the test session with the third-fastest lap time with only Alex Palou and Josef Newgarden ahead of him.

VeeKay initially struggled with the balance of the car but as the day went on, fine-tuning helped him feel comfortable. By the end of the day, he claimed that the car was similar to the Ed Carpenter Racing car that he was driving earlier in the year. VeeKay spoke with IndyCar.com after the session and said:

“I might have created an opportunity.”

With the current contract situation, VeeKay might have to sit the next season out but could make a part-time appearance, especially given his record around ovals.
