It's been a tough week for Danica Patrick physically. Last week, the former IndyCar star suffered a nasty burn on her left thigh after spilling a hot Starbucks Americano on it.
Patrick shared a photo of the burn on her Instagram story and wrote:
"Day 1 coffee burn Starbucks 🖕🏽, I mean - 1 Me - 0☠️"
The Sky Sports analyst also put up a poll below it, asking:
"Anyone else think their hot water is way the hell too hot?"
Danica Patrick followed up on her burn three days later with another Instagram story. She shared a photo of the circular burn that had turned red and the area around it was scarring. Another photo of the bandaged burned area was captioned:
"Cute, might delete later."
A week after that incident, Patrick has given her 960K Instagram followers another update. She shared a photo of the nearly healed burn, dropping an f-bomb for Starbucks:
"Starbucks Americano burn update. Day.... I don't know I'm in Abu Dhabi, 6?! Looking a little better. Silver Cream. And @brooke_selman for being a burn boss. And f u Starbucks. 🤣😩"
"This is a burn too," she wrote, with an arrow pointing to another scar by her knee.
Patrick is currently in Abu Dhabi to cover the last F1 race of 2024 for Sky Sports.
Danica Patrick's return to F1 broadcasting and future with Sky Sports
Danica Patrick has been known to make certain controversial comments during her F1 and NASCAR media gigs in the recent past, prompting the wrath of motorsport fans on social media. In the process, her reputation took a hit.
The turnaround was rather stark, considering how IndyCar fans loved her persona as a driver. Patrick was voted the IndyCar Series Most Popular Driver consecutively from 2005 to 2010. In June 2024, she announced taking a break from F1. However, some fans criticized Sky Sports when she returned for the Austin Grand Prix in October. Her 2025 F1 future is uncertain.
Patrick is the only female racer to have won an IndyCar race - the Indy Japan 300 in 2008. She retired from racing in 2018 after concluding a successful IndyCar and NASCAR career. Currently, she hosts her podcast "Pretty Intense" where she interviews not just entities from the motorsport world but from all walks of life.
