IndyCar star Graham Rahal's wife Courtney Force engaged in some jest with her older sister Ashley Force Hood on Instagram. The topic of interest was 'toddlers' and their whimsies, something that both ex-drag racing sisters have dealt with.
Ashley, who is the Vice President of John Force Racing, her 16-time NHRA World Funny Car champion father's NHRA drag racing team, shared a reel on Instagram. The video started with focusing on her bathroom sink before panning higher towards the mirror, where a kid's toothbrush was stuck, horizontally protruding towards the camera. She enhanced the post with the theme song of Netflix's Stranger Things - 'The Theme System'. The caption read:
"Strange things when you're in a house full of toddlers"
Courtney reshared the reel on her Instagram stories and saw the positive side of the toothbrush hilarity. She wrote:
"I mean.. at least my kids brushing her teeth?😂"
Both Courtney and Ashley are ex-NHRA drag racers. After Ashley retired in 2011 to focus on starting a family, Courtney replaced her in their family team as its fourth driver and surpassed her three years later to achieve the record for most Funny Car wins by a female driver in NHRA history.
Courtney Force's NHRA career was inspired by champion father John Force and sister Ashley's drag racing success
Courtney Force is a known name in the NHRA circuit, and not just because of her father, John Force's powerhouse drag racing. But it was his heroics that inspired a 7-year-old Courtney to make racing her career choice.
Ahead of her second year of racing in the Funny Car class of the NHRA Racing Series in 2013, she revealed the story of how it all began and how she felt racing alongside and against her father at the premier level. Courtney said (via cjonline):
"I was probably seven years old telling my dad I was going to be a race car driver like him. I took my birthday to go out on the road with my dad. We went to Virginia and that was my big birthday present. I got to spend the weekend with my dad at the races. I just always loved the sport, I loved being involved with the team, celebrating in the winner's circle and just the excitement of these cars."
She also spoke about the role Ashley's path-breaking career played in building a blueprint for her to follow.
"I knew I wanted to be a part of it and watching my sister, Ashley, take that road it was kind of cool having someone else to follow in their footsteps. I just kind of copied her path and knew that if she ended up in a Funny Car that's where I wanted to be. I just had to do whatever she did to get there. I've learned a lot from her and my dad," Courtney Force added.
In 2014, Courtney earned bragging rights in the Force household by defeating her father at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals. That win helped her surpass Ashley in the all-time wins (five) for a female in NHRA history. She retired from the sport in 2019.
