Soon to be Indy NXT driver and a former NASCAR star Hailie Deegan shared an elaborate clip, displaying her cooking skills on Instagram. It was none other than her mom Marissa who dropped a cheeky comment on the video.

Deegan has endured a tumultuous period in her racing career lately. Coming through as a promising female talent in the ARCA Series, the California native failed to impress with her stint in the Truck Series. Despite showing flashes of potential, her record of five top-10 finishes in 69 starts fell short of expectations.

In 2022, Deegan made her NASCAR Xfinity Series debut, delivering a strong performance. This led to a full-time deal with AM Racing for the 2024 season, marking a surprising promotion after her challenging stint with ThorSport Racing in the Truck Series.

However, her time with AM Racing proved to be another uphill battle. The team faced consistent struggles, with only four finishes of 20th or better in 17 races. On July 8, AM Racing and Deegan announced their mutual decision to part ways.

While she endures difficulties in her career, Hailie Deegan has not let these uncertainties dampen her spirit. Beyond the racetrack, the 23-year-old could often be seen sharing glimpses of her daily life on her social media handles. In a recent Instagram post, Deegan showed off her cooking skills as she prepared carne asada.

Her mother, Marissa, playfully chimed in the comment section, teasing her daughter with a lighthearted comment. She wrote:

"Okay you making dinner next time at the house."

What did Hailie Deegan say after her move to Indy NXT?

On October 14, 2024, Hailie Deegan announced that she signed a deal with HMD Motorsports to compete in the 2025 Indy NXT Series. She will pilot the No. 38 car, beginning with the upcoming season.

In a press release following the announcement, the 23-year-old stated (via Forbes):

"I have much to learn, but I am ready to go. The team brings a wealth of knowledge for me to pull from, and I look forward to soaking up as much of that as possible before my race debut next March in St. Petersburg."

Meanwhile, Mike Maurini, President of HMD Motorsports, expressed enthusiasm about Hailie Deegan joining their team. He stated:

"Hailie, and especially the Deegan name, are huge in motorsports, and we welcome them to the HMD Motorsports family. She is already working with her engineer. We want to make sure she and all the other HMD Motorsports drivers are as ready as possible for every on-track session."

HMD Motorsports has a strong track record, having won the Indy NXT Championship in 2023. The champion Christian Rasmussen has since advanced to the NTT IndyCar Series, and now drives for Ed Carpenter Racing.
