IndyCar's Instagram account uploaded a post on January 5, 2025, sharing the answers of Sting Ray Robb, Conor Daly, and other American open wheel racing drivers when asked about their New Year's tradition. With the off-season underway, the drivers had an opportunity to celebrate the holiday season with their families.
Daly, Robb, and other drivers were asked, “Do you have any New Year's tradition?”. IndyCar posted their responses on Instagram along with six pictures, each with the driver's response.
“Indiana State Parks have free entry on New Year's Day! So, a family hike has become a new tradition,” Robb replied.
“Make sure I post all my favorite photos from the whole year again,” Sting Ray Robb’s 2025 teammate Conor Daly responded.
“Go to bed on New Year's Eve and wake up on New Year's Day,” ECR driver Alexander Rossi replied.
Various trail events and races are organized by the Indiana State Parks on New Year's Day. The people are provided with free access to promote a healthy lifestyle. While the people are free to access the property, a minimal amount is charged for the events. Here are a few other drivers' responses:
“Family...boat...ideally both,” Kyffin Simpson said.
“Be better than last year”, Christian Lundgaard replied.
“Not really, just spend it with family,” McLaren’s IndyCar driver Nolan Siegel replied.
The caption of the post revolved around Alexander Rossi's response as the ECR driver treated New Year's like just another day in his life. The caption of the post read,
“New year, same @alexanderrossi energy #INDYCAR drivers shared how they ring in the new year.”
Conor Daly and Sting Ray Robb were announced by Juncos Hollinger Racing as their driver lineup for the 2025 season. Robb was announced in November with Daly’s announcement coming a few weeks later in December.
“We share a vision”: Sting Ray Robb in signing with JHR for 2025
Sting Ray Robb raced for A.J. Foyt Racing during the 2024 IndyCar season and his move to JHR for the upcoming season was announced on November 20 last year. With the IndyCar teams struggling with budgets following the introduction of the hybrid Power Units, the JHR signing reportedly brought huge financial aid in the form of his sponsorships.
Robb said of the move to JHR (via IndyCar):
“To be sought out by leaders like (team owners) Ricardo Juncos and Brad Hollinger and a team as driven as JHR means the world to me. We share a vision for what we can achieve together, and I’m honored to contribute to JHR’s continued growth as I also grow as their driver. Excited to see what we accomplish together with our ambition and the power of possibility.”
Conor Daly, on the Off Track with Hinch and Rossi podcast, suggested that JHR asked him to bring $10M in sponsorships for the 2025 drive.
