Alexander Rossi became the subject of jokes for his IndyCar rivals on Sunday after posting a hilarious Instagram reel. The 2016 Indy 500 gave fans a glimpse into his extravagant vacation in Florida.
Rossi shared a 'house tour' video from his vacation rental in Kissimmee, Florida. He began the video by saying:
"Alright guys, I'm going to attempt to do one shot per day over my house to try. ... I'm kidding, I can't golf. Alright, we're in Kissimmee, Florida.
"We're in this awesome (pans camera to the house) vacation rental, and I know some people on Instagram do these house tours and everything. We're kind of gonna do that to show you everything, but it's gonna be the fastest one ever."
It indeed was the 'fastest one ever'. Immediately after saying that, he ran into the house while recording a chaotic house tour. Rossi used no more than one sentence, and in most cases, only one word, like 'couch', 'arcade' and 'pool,' to describe the features in the house.
Midway through the video, the IndyCar star was running out of breath. But the tour continued at the same pace until he concluded it by diving into the pool fully dressed. The caption to the post read:
"Check out this amazing vacation rental in Kissimmee, Florida thanks to Top Tier at Reunion. Might never leave. (This video is a train wreck)"
Fans loved the absolute chaos. Juncos Hollinger Racing's Conor Daly gave a hilarious one-liner to encapsulate the effect of Alexander Rossi's video. He wrote:
"I feel like I just had the MTV cribs version of a seizure. But also wondering if the invite is still in the mail?"
Marco Andretti, who drives part-time for Andretti Global, also chimed in, wanting 'take 2' of the video.
"The fact that you shorted us on a view of the space room is just a real shame. Dry off and re take?" he wrote.
Nolan Siegel, who raced alongside Rossi at Arrow McLaren for the second half of the 2024 IndyCar season, had a rather uplifting message:
"I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thank you sir."
Rossi's show of humor in such a chaotic fashion comes as a surprise. The American driver is usually more reserved and collected even while co-hosting the 'Off Track with Hinch and Rossi' podcast with ex-IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe.
Alexander Rossi tipped for a second Indy 500 victory in 2025
IndyCar insider Bob Pockrass has predicted Alexander Rossi to win his second Indy 500 in the race's 109th running this year. The ex-F1 driver has joined Ed Carpenter Racing for 2025 and beyond on a multi-year deal.
Pockrass believes that Rossi will find synergy in this new partnership and conquer the "Greatest Spectacle of Racing". In a 2025 prediction column for FOX Sports, Pockrass wrote:
"Alexander Rossi wins the Indy 500. Rossi, who moved from Arrow McLaren to Ed Carpenter Racing, has had his share of Indy 500 disappointments that followed his win in 2016 in his first 500. What ECR does well is have fast cars at Indianapolis.
"Rossi last won a race in 2022 (Indy road course) and the last time on an oval was 2018 (Pocono). ECR last won an IndyCar event in 2021 (Indy road course) and last won on an oval in 2016 (Iowa). But their combined experience indicates this could be a magical Indy year."
It was a decent 2024 for Rossi. He finished 10th in the championship standings, taking a sole podium at Laguna Seca with Arrow McLaren.
