Jamie Chadwick, the three-time W-series champion, will be switching her focus from the open wheel racing to the sports car/touring series. Chadwick will race in the Le Mans in the LMP2 class for the 2025 season. She will be driving for Hyundai’s brand-new European Le Mans team. Former Williams driver Logan Sargeant will be partnering with her.

Chadwick had stated her goal to race in IndyCar after her test at Barber in October 2024 (via Autoweek):

IndyCar is definitely the goal, but this year given the test as well it’s made it’s clear that’s the next step."

After the announcement of her switch to Le Mans, Chadwick thanked Andretti Global with a post on X.

“Thank you, @AndrettiIndy for an incredible two years! Although IndyCar isn’t in my immediate plans, I’m super thankful for everything I’ve learned and experienced with this fantastic team. I'm excited to keep pushing myself and look forward to the new adventures ahead!”

Chadwick performed well in her IndyCar test earlier this year to warrant her a seat at the Hyundai venture. This move to Le Mans puts her IndyCar dream on hold but doesn't end it yet.

After successful seasons in the W series, Chadwick made the move to the Indy NXT series for the 2023 season. As expected, her debut season was a bit shaky for the Brit. However, she gripped the series well in her second year as she finished P7 in the standings. Results included multiple crashes from other drivers that put Chadwick at a loss.

Moving away from open-wheel is certainly an interesting move on her part. Yet, Le Mans experience will look good on any driver’s CV.

“Giving myself the best opportunity”: Jamie Chadwick on future IndyCar seat

Jamie Chadwick tested with Andretti Global in an IndyCar test at Barber. The Brit, who managed to find her feet in the Indy NXT, also impressed with her performance during the test. These experiences of driving an IndyCar and getting comfortable with the car could put Chadwick yet another step closer to IndyCar in the future.

"Of course, my goal is to go up to IndyCar, but I want to be as ready as I can be. I don't want to make up the numbers. I don't want to do it for the sake of doing it. I want to do it because I want to be competitive. And I think giving myself the best opportunity for that,” Jamie Chadwick said (via Andretti Autosport's YT video from 3:28).

With Colton Herta reportedly moving to the Cadillac F1 project in the near future, Andretti Global had the opportunity to promote Jamie Chadwick to the IndyCar series.
