Jimmie Johnson has celebrated Thanksgiving with two IndyCar champions, Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti. Johnson had dinner with the IndyCar stars and their families at a five-star hotel in the United Kingdom.
Johnson is a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion who drove the No. 48 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. Meanwhile, Scott Dixon is a six-time IndyCar champion and Dario Franchitti is a four-time IndyCar champ and three-time Indy 500 winner.
In an Instagram post by Emma Davies, Scott Dixon's wife, the three multi-championship drivers could be seen having a Thanksgiving dinner with their loved ones. The caption of the post read:
Another Franchitti/Johnson/Dixon “Thanksgiving in the books!! I hope that everyone that celebrated had a beautiful day with loved ones. ❤️🇺🇸," Emma wrote.
The dinner was held at the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. Considering Franchitti was born in Scotland, the IndyCar star could've invited his fellow racecar champions to his hometown to celebrate the holiday.
Johnson, Dixon, and Franchitti won their championship titles in about the same era. The No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports star won the NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, and 2016.
Meanwhile, Dixon earned six championships in 2003, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2018, and 2020. He is the second on the all-time list of IndyCar champions behind A.J. Foyt, who won seven times in the 60s and 70s.
As for Franchitti, the Scottish racing driver won his titles in 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2011. The last three championship runs were rallied against teammate Scott Dixon at Chip Ganassi Racing.
Moreover, he won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010, and 2012. His first victory at the Brickyard was ended early due to rain following a crash involving then Andretti Green Racing teammate Marco Andretti on lap 162.
Johnson built his friendships with Dixon and Franchitti during a two-year run with CGR in the IndyCar series following his retirement from NASCAR in 2020.
Fellow NASCAR driver advised Jimmie Johnson to stay humble ahead of Indy 500 debut
Before Jimmie Johnson's Indianapolis 500 debut in 2022, Kurt Busch offered the seven-time NASCAR champ advice. Busch told Johnson to stay humble and compete with a rookie mindset.
In an interview with Motorsports, Busch said:
"Jimmie will have to be humble and open to the idea of being a rookie again."
The 2004 NASCAR champ reflected on his crash in the practice session of the Indy 500 in 2014. He believes the crash was a good lesson to avoid repeating the same mistake in the race.
"But I’d say in my case, the wreck was a good lesson, because if I hadn’t made that mistake in practice, I’d have done it early in the race instead, and it would have been a disaster," Busch stated.
During the race, Jimmie Johnson managed to lead the field for two laps after starting 12th. However, the No. 48 Chip Ganassi Racing driver had to settle with a DNF after crashing his car in turn two on lap 194.
Regardless, the driver was elected Rookie of the Year for The Brickyard race.
Johnson later announced his retirement from the American open-wheel car racing series, ending a two-year run with CGR. His best result was at the Iowa Speedway, where he bagged a P5 finish.
