Abel Motorsports announced the signing of Jordan Missig for the 2025 Indy NXT season. This move comes after the team's to-be No. 1 driver, Yuven Sudaramoorthy, announced his abrupt withdrawal from next year's campaign citing 'unforeseen" budget challenges.

Missig is not entirely new to Indy NXT or Abel Motorsports. He has competed in five races in the series with the team with a best finish of P9 in the 11th race of the season at Gateway Motorsports Park. In an official statement after his signing, the 26-year-old said:

"I’m so excited to be joining ABEL Motorsports and the INDY NXT by Firestone field for 2025. It was great to get my feet wet in 2024 and get to experience an Indy NXT race weekend instead of coming into 2025 completely new. I got to know the Abel Motorsports team pretty well and am already feeling really comfortable there, but 2025 will provide us that chance to just deepen our chemistry and communication together, which will hopefully translate to speed.
"I would like to thank Graham Rahal Performance for our 2024 championship and preparing me for a full 2025 Indy NXT campaign with Abel Motorsports."

Missig was crowned the 2024 Radical Cup North America Champion, and he eventually finished third in the Radical Cup World Finals in Abu Dhabi. In 2023, he competed in the USF Pro 2000 for Pabst Racing and finished 11th in the standings with two podiums. His two years with the same team in the Indy Pro 2000 in 2021 and 2022 were similarly adequate with a 20th place and 11th place finish.

What Yuven Sundaramoorthy said after the "tough" 2025 Abel Motorsports decision

The Indian-origin Yuven Sundaramoorthy joined Abel Motorsports in 2023. He raced part-time in the Indy NXT, competing in four races in the second half of the season. Sundaramoorthy recorded P9 as his best finish at the season finale in Laguna Seca, and his pace landed him a full-time seat for 2024.

The 21-year-old was on the money this year with four Top 5 finishes, including two podiums. His best finish, P2, was in the last race of the season at Nashville. Sundarmoorthy finished 8th in the standings with 309 points. He was all set to become the team's lead driver in 2025 with the experienced Jacob Abel, son of team owner, Bill Abel, calling it a day in the Indy NXT. However, last-minute challenges drew the following announcement from Sundaramoorthy on X. He wrote:

"After much consideration, I want to announce that I won’t be competing with ABEL Motorsports in the INDY NXT by Firestone series in 2025 due to unforeseen budget challenges. While it’s a tough decision, I’m incredibly grateful for the support and opportunities that have come my way. I’d like to express gratitude to the ABEL Motorsports team for their trust and partnership, and to all my supporters for believing in me. This isn’t the end – just the beginning of new possibilities. Stay tuned, and I look forward to what’s next."

In the post's caption, he also promised to have already begun work towards his 2026 campaign with the team. In 2025, Abel Motorsports will race with three new drivers. Myles Rowe and Callum Hedge come on board for their sophomore seasons and Jordan Missig for his rookie season.
