Indy NXT star and model Lindsay Brewer is an inspiration for young girls and women who aspire to break into the male-dominated field of motorsport. She recently shared a post on Instagram to encourage the next-gen female drivers to keep their racing dreams alive.

Brewer raced for Juncos Hollinger Racing in the 2024 Indy NXT season, competing in 8 races out of 14 before the team parted ways with her over the unfulfillment of some contractual obligations. She recently posted a reel on Instagram with a racing-themed twist on the iconic dialogue by The Incredibles superhero Elastigirl. Brewer mouthed the edited audio in the reel, saying:

"Girls, come on! Leave the race cars to the men? I don't think so. I don't think so."

This was followed by a short edit of Brewer putting on her helmet and driving her No.76 JHR on a track. The original dialogue by Elastigirl or Mrs. Incredible went:

"Girls, come on! Leave the saving of the world to men? I don't think so. I don't think so."

In her eight races in the 2024 Indy NXT, Brewer failed to impress. The 27-year-old managed a best finish of P15 in her first race at St. Petersburg and her last race at Laguna Seca. She finished 21st in the standings with 102 points. However, it was the lack of funding that reportedly cost her the seat.

"We are at a disadvantage physically": When Lindsay Brewer explained why fewer women have raced in IndyCar compared to NASCAR

In 2022 and 2023, Lindsay Brewer competed in the USF Pro 2000 with Exclusive Autosport. She finished 15th and 18th in the two seasons before Juncos Hollinger Racing signed her for the 2024 Indy NXT.

Ahead of her first race in the topmost rung of the IndyCar ladder series this year, Brewer was optimistic and driven to inspire aspiring women racers. She said (via IndyCar):

"This year it's my goal to be a bit more aggressive because in the past, like, I'm a very aggressive driver, I really am. And that's why people say, once you put the helmet on, you're like a different person. And so, I'm excited to get back into that mindset. I think not be overly aggressive, but just be a bit more aggressive, and just not let any of the guys push me around. You’re showing women they can do this."

Though her season was cut short in June, she didn't lose hope. In a Forbes interview in November, she explained why women find it harder to race, let alone succeed in IndyCar compared to other top categories like NASCAR.

"There's no power steering in open-wheel cars, and that's why there aren't as many women in open-wheel racing as there are in like NASCAR, or sport racing, because the power steering is such a big issue. It doesn't mean that women aren't able to do anything men can do. But we are at a disadvantage physically. But it is something I love, and that's why I do it," she said.

Though Brewer has made some ground in the F1 sponsorship space, she has yet to sign with another team for the 2025 Indy NXT season or announce her plans to race in another category.
