Pato O'Ward has taken to his Instagram story to react to IndyCar's post showcasing edited pictures of the series' drivers in collaboration with the IndyNXT account. The uploads feature shrunken photos of eight drivers.
The caption reads:
“Honey, I think we shrunk the paddock.”
O’Ward was one of the drivers whose picture was shrunken, and he shared it on his Instagram story with a hilarious response. His picture was taken at the 2024 Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. The Mexican won the race and the uploaded picture was taken during the celebrations as the Arrow McLaren driver jumped off the podium with a champagne bottle (third slide):
Pato O'Ward wrote in his Instagram story:
“HAHAHA MA DAWG🚀”
O'Ward also shared Felix Rosenqvist’s picture from the post on his story. A picture of the Meyer Shank Racing driver with his wife Emille Rosenqvist was uploaded of the two posing in front of his MSR IndyCar. But again, the Swedish driver was shrunken.
“HAHAHAHA😭😭🤣🤣🤣 @frosenqvist,” Pato O'Ward wrote.
The Mexican driver also commented on other pictures from the IndyCar post, including Jacob Abel's where the Abel Motorsports driver sat on the pit wall. Next up was RLL driver Graham Rahal whose picture was taken during the pit walk. O'Ward also commented on Rosenqvist's photo in the comments section. The Arrow McLaren driver’s reactions read:
“You good bro? @jacobabel”
“Nice neck @grahamrahal”
“Glad we know who wears the pants in the relationship @frosenqvist”
Rosenqvist's wife joined in:
“Awww actual footage of me and fro”
Arrow McLaren's official Instagram account commented:
“We just KNEW @patriciooward would be in these comments…”
O'Ward was set to run the IndyCar demo at the Formula E Race in Mexico next month. However, the joint venture with FE has been called off.
Pato O'Ward’s McLaren IndyCar run at the Mexican ePrix cancelled
On October 28, 2024, it was announced that Pato O'Ward would drive his Arrow McLaren IndyCar in front of the Mexican fans at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in a show run. However six weeks later on December 15, 2024, the show was cancelled.
As per The Race, the run was canceled due to “logistical challenges that couldn’t be sorted in time”. The Formula E season started in Sao Paulo on December 7, 2024. After a month-long holiday break, the electric series will return to Mexico for the second round on January 11, 2025. This is when O'Ward was scheduled to show run his IndyCar.
Despite the disappointment of the cancellation of the Mexican ePrix show run, O'Ward did get to drive the McLaren F1 car in front of his home fans during the FP1 session of the Mexico Grand Prix.
