Marcus Ericsson celebrated New Year's Eve with his wife, Iris Tritsaris Jondahl, and some friends at an upmarket venue in snowy lands. The couple dressed in elegant matching black outfits.
While the 2022 Indy 500 winner opted for a classic white shirt with black pants and black blazer look with a black bowtie, his Greek-Swedish model wife wore a deep-neck black dress and put on a brown overcoat to tackle the freezing weather when everybody headed outside in the snow.
Iris posted a few pictures of the merry night on Instagram where the entire group seemed to be in good spirits. She captioned the post:
"HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎆"
In one photo, Ericsson and Iris shared a kiss. The other snaps from the night encapsulated them partying the night away with their group of friends and ringing in the new year with glasses of champagne in their hands. The Andretti Global driver made an Instagram post of his own, captioned:
"Happy New Year ✨✨ Can’t wait to see what 2025 holds in store 🚀"
Ericsson and Iris spent their Christmas in the city of Kumla, Sweden, where the IndyCar driver was born and raised. This holiday season was a much-needed break for him after a subpar first season with Andretti Global that 'pissed' him off. He finished 15th in the standings and ended the season without a win.
Engagement after marriage: Marcus Ericsson and Iris Jondahl wrote their love story 'backwards'
Marcus Ericsson tied the knot with long-time girlfriend Iris in a private wedding ceremony on April 17, 2023. Everything was hush-hush and the couple only shared two photos from the day in an Instagram post for their fans.
Nearly a year later, on August 7, 2024, Iris announced that they got engaged in Greece after the ex-F1 driver proposed to her at a beachside resort. She explained this upside-down story in the caption and wrote:
"Engaged in Greece💍 The true beauty of life is that it gives you the chance to create your own unique story. We might be doing it backwards, but this is our story, and we are in love with every chapter of it🤍"
Iris is often seen at IndyCar races supporting her Indy 500-winning husband. At the 108th Indy 500 in May 2024, she comforted Ericsson after rookie Tom Blomqvist's Lap 1 mistake took both their cars out of the race. In a heartfelt Instagram post after the incident, she wrote:
"One thing is certain with the Indy 500: it’s always an emotional race. We were looking forward to a great race, but for Marcus, it was over almost as soon as it started. Even though the day didn’t go as planned, I know he’ll come back stronger. Love you endlessly @ericsson_marcus❤️"
Overall, 2024 was a letdown for Marcus Ericsson. To ensure a non-repeat in 2025, the No. 28 driver is focusing on maintaining physical and mental fitness levels.
