Juncos Hollinger Racing announced the first of their two IndyCar series drivers for next season in late November. Sting Ray Robb signed a contract with JHR as one of the drivers for the 2025 season.

The team has now pinned their 2025 season hopes on the latest signing David Brown, who joins as the new Technical Director of the team and replaces Yves Touron.

JHR’s co-owner spoke highly of their new signing and said they expect Brown to push the team up the grid for the 2025 IndyCar season. Ricardo Juncos said (via juncoshollinger.com):

“I believe the wealth of knowledge and perspective that David brings will help us fight our way up the grid during the 2025 INDYCAR season.”

Brad Hollinger said (via juncoshollinger.com):

“I'm excited to welcome David to Juncos Hollinger Racing. His presence reinforces our commitment to continued advancement on the technical side of the team. His vast experience in F1, as well as other forms of motorsport, will benefit the team from day one.”

David Brown has been working in motorsports for over 4 decades and will be joining an IndyCar team for the first time. The Briton started his motorsport career in F1 with Williams in the early 80s and moved to McLaren and Jordan towards the end of his F1 stint. During this time, he worked closely with the likes of Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, and Ayrton Senna.

Brown then moved to roles in IMSA and ALMS where he spent the last few years engineering sports cars. The Brit is now back to his roots in the open-wheel racing world.

JHR had a competitive 2024 IndyCar season and was a dark horse. With Brown as the new TD, the team would be looking to position itself as a prominent team like Arrow McLaren has done in recent years.

Everything seems to be falling into place for JHR except that they are yet to announce their second driver to partner alongside Sting Ray Robb.

JHR Team Principal details the criteria for the driver that will partner with Sting Ray Robb

Romain Grosjean, Rinus VeeKay, and Conor Daly are rumored to be potential candidates for the JHR second seat. Grosjean drove for the entirety of the 2024 season with JHR, setting a team record of six top-10 finishes.

VeeKay, who finished the third-fastest at the IMS test in October, is a free agent, and Daly replaced Agustín Canapino at JHR for the last 5 races in 2024.

JHR Team Principal David O'Neill was quoted as saying in late November about what the team is looking for in the second driver (via motorsport):

“We also want to make sure that the second driver, which there's three or four that we're talking to, is someone that we can put in the car at the Indianapolis 500 and stand a chance of winning, and also bring stability to the team in road courses, but also bring stability to the engineering department. So, have a decent criteria there with the two different drivers that we're going to introduce to the team.”

All three of the above-mentioned drivers seemingly fit the criteria mentioned by the JHR Team Principal.
