IndyCar star Graham Rahal celebrated on January 1 after his favorite college football team, the Ohio State Buckeyes dominantly defeated the Oregon Ducks. The Buckeyes made up for its 32-31 loss against the Ducks earlier in the season with a 41-21 victory on Wednesday night.

It was a major upset for the top-seeded Bucks, who entered the game on a 13-0 undefeated streak. Rahal, an Ohio native and a longtime fan of the Buckeyes, chose a bottle of 'Eagle Rare' bourbon whiskey to celebrate the win. He shared a photo of the unopened bottle on X.

"O-H! Time to pour a good one🔥" Graham Rahal wrote.

The IndyCar star's fans reacted to his choice of drink, a whiskey that was aged 10 years.

"That looks delicious!!" one wrote.
"Eagle Rare is so good Great choice Graham," another wrote.
"I have that bottle. Great choice." a third fan added.
"Damn it is love a bottle of it," yet another replied.

A few Buckeyes fans joined the online celebrations, commending the eighth-seeded team for its sensational game.

"Buckeyes look like championship material my man," a fan wrote.
"Damn good win. Now keep winning!" another posted.

Wide Receiver Jeremiah Smith was the night's star, making two touchdowns and finishing with 187 receiving yards. With this win in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals at the Rose Bowl, the Buckeyes ensured a semifinal matchup against Texas in the Cotton Bowl on January 10.

Ohio State Buckeyes football is the "greatest thing outside of racing" for Graham Rahal

Graham Rahal has rooted for the Ohio State Buckeyes ever since his father Bobby Rahal, the winner of the 1986 Indy 500, took him for a game of theirs in the early 90s. His favorite memory is the team winning the 2015 National Championship, as he revealed in an interview with Scarlet & Game in 2020. He also spoke about how passionately he feels for the Buckeyes and the Columbus Blue Jackets, an Ohio-based NHL team.

"I live for the Buckeyes and Jackets. I watch every game, no matter what sport. Obviously football and CBJ hockey take precedence, but still, I watch it all. It really just started at a young age and has only increased as I have gotten more involved and known more people over there. I love Buckeye football, it’s the greatest thing outside of racing for me!" Graham Rahal said.

In 2015, the No. 15 driver paid tribute to the national champion with an Ohio State football-themed helmet for that year's Honday Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio race course.

In 2024, Rahal recorded a subpar IndyCar season with Rahal Letterman Lanigan, a team co-owned by his father. He failed to secure any Top 5 finishes and ended the year 18th in the championship standings.
