IndyCar legend Tony Kanaan's wife Lauren Bohlander sent out a playful invitation to former NASCAR Cup Series driver and commentator Danica Patrick. Bohlander invited Patrick and put her on wine duty for the night.
IndyCar legend and former Indy 500 winner Tony Kanaan is a former NTT IndyCar Series Champion and currently serves as the deputy team principal of Arrow McLaren following the departure of Gavin Ward.
While he keeps achieving these heights within the realms of motorsports, Tony Kanaan maintains a healthy family life off it. The 49-year-old former driver is a married man with four kids. His wife, Lauren Bohlander, a former broadcast journalist, also maintains a strong presence on social media platforms such as Instagram.
Recently, Bohlander shared an Instagram story featuring a relaxed evening with a friend and a bottle of wine. The cozy scene caught the attention of former NASCAR and IndyCar driver Danica Patrick, who shared this on her own Instagram story, with her caption reading:
"My kind of night!!"
Reacting to Patrick's words, Tony Kanaan's wife quickly replied in good humor, inviting the 42-year-old to her next gathering.
"You're invited to the next one! It's your turn for supply," Lauren Bohlander wrote.
Before her marriage to the racing legend, Lauren Bohlander had already carved out her own identity. As a broadcast journalist, she worked with networks like Fox Sports, NBC Sports, and Big Ten, covering a wide range of sports stories. Lauren gained further recognition as a host on Garage Squad and even dabbled in acting, with appearances in shows like St. Vincent’s Hospital.
Tony Kanaan on managing his personal and professional life
Kanaan has been vocal about his efforts to be present for his kids, speaking on his parenting approach in a 2019 interview. He said (via IndyCar):
"When you have more than one (kid), you try to divide, not doing everybody together all the time, individually taking alone time with you, you and you. They’re all different. They all have different desires and interests. That’s just one thing I try to do the most, alone time with each of them."
Tony Kanaan has four kids, namely Leo, Deco, Max, and Nina. The 49-year-old also acknowledged that parenting was a journey of discovery, shaped by lessons learned from his own upbringing. He said:
"Being a parent, I don’t think there’s a rule. I think you discover it as you go. Obviously, some examples you try to set the way you got taught by your parents. Some things, you grow up not agreeing with how your parents did and you try to do better."
Kanaan retired from IndyCar following the end of the 2023 season, with that year's Indianapolis 500 being his last race.
