Below is the list of the five worst-performing drivers from the 2024 season. For the sake of fairness, the list only consists of drivers who competed in all 17 races of the season.
2024's worst-performing IndyCar drivers as per standings
#5. Romain Grosjean
Former Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean competed in his fourth IndyCar season, this time at the helm of the #77 Chevrolet for Juncos Hollinger Racing. Grosjean, formerly an Andretti Autosport driver, failed to make a mark yet again, this time finishing in a career-low 17th position. He secured a single top-5 finish, in the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey, and secured 260 points in the season.
#4. Graham Rahal
The experienced Graham Rahal endured a difficult year with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Piloting the #15 Honda, Rahal finished 18th in the standings with 251 points. Despite achieving five top-10 finishes, Rahal failed to secure a single top-5 result in 2024. Consistency eluded him, as his team faced struggles with pace and reliability issues.
#3. Pietro Fittipaldi
Brazilian driver Pietro Fittipaldi had a forgettable season, managing only 186 points to rank 19th. Competing for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Fittipaldi was unable to achieve a single top-5 or top-10 finish during the campaign. The lack of strong results highlights the challenges faced by the Fittipaldi name in one of motorsport's most competitive series.
#2. Sting Ray Robb
Sting Ray Robb, piloting the No. 41 for A.J. Foyt Racing, narrowly edged out Fittipaldi in the standings with 185 points, finishing 20th. Despite securing a single top-10 finish, Robb struggled for consistent performance throughout the season. His 2024 campaign showcased the difficulties smaller teams face in competing with the series' top outfits.
#1. Kyffin Simpson
Kyffin Simpson, piloting the No. 8 Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing, finished at the bottom of the full-time drivers' standings with 182 points. The Cayman Islands native failed to achieve a single top-5 or top-10 finish despite driving for a premier team.
