3 positives for Dabang Delhi to take forward

Dabang Delhi did not have the best of campaigns in season 3 of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi league as they finished bottom of the table. However, they did give some very good performances and fought a lot to do the best for their team. Here we look at three positives that they can take from this season -

Kashi’s consistent excellence

A polar opposite of the Dabang Delhi’s form in season 3 of the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League, star raider Kashiling Adake stood out with his blistering performances in the league stage.

While the Delhi defence was not consistent enough, Kashi was the only constant performer for them, gathering points on a regular basis and steering his team to a fighting position is all the mathces.

The Maharashtra-based raider had an impressive average of 5 successful raids per match and secured a total of 75 raid points for the Eagles in the season 3 of PKL.

Emergence of youngsters

While the Eagles’ senior players were failing to make a mark on the game, some of the junior players were eagerly waiting for their opportunity to shine and show the world what they are capable of.

One such example was when star defender Ravinder Pahal was not able to time his tackles to perfection as he did in the last edition of the PKL, in which he was conferred the ‘Most successful defender of the tournament’ awarad.

20-year old Sandeep Dhull made his chance count and ended the season 3 as the player with most number of super tackles (6) in the PKL.

Similarly, Selvamani shined in the raiding department for them as he combined well with star raider Kashiling Adake in order to get the most number of raid points for his team.

The contribution of Services players

Services has always had a brilliant domestic set-up with players being trained and recruited for all sports in the nation. This goes for kabaddi as well, and two of their players were recruited by Dabang Delhi in order to boost their chances in the season 3 of PKL.

Surjeet Singh was given a place in the starting 7 in the very first match of the season 3, and very early into the campaign was seen as a dangerous threat by the opposition teams. His extra speed and agility in the opposition half helped him gather 68 raid points in the 12 matches he played for the Eagles, 2nd highest for the Eagles squad.

Similarly, Anil Kumar was also recruited from Services to help the defensive structure of the squad and he too performed well given the circumstances and gathered 19 tackle points for the team.
