3rd World Cup Kabaddi: Indian men launch campaign against England

The memories of India finishing runners-up in the second Asia Cup Kabaddi (circle kabaddi) Championship held in Lahore, Pakistan last are still fresh in the minds of our kabaddi fans.

The fact that India lost the final to arch-rivals Pakistan after an impressive showing in the league phase, where they won all four games – only does its bit to ensure wounds of that final defeat are not forgotten in a hurry.

It’s time for redemption as defending champions India launch their campaign in the third World Cup Kabaddi Championship (circle kabaddi), as they lock horns with England on December 5 at Doda (Mukatsar).

The Sukhbir Singh Sarawan-led Indian men’s team would be looking to post a convincing win in their opening match on Wednesday so that they can be in the right frame of mind going into the other games.

India are placed in Pool A along with Denmark and Afghanistan besides England.

The Indian men would then slug it out with Afghanistan on December 6 in Sangrur and wrap up their league engagements with a match against Denmark on December 11.

As many as fifteen countries are participating in the men’s section.

In the women’s section, hosts India would also start their campaign on Wednesday as they clash with Denmark at Sangrur.

The Indian women will then play their final league match against Canada on December 9 in Fazilka.

Seven teams are taking part in the women’s section.

Top team from each pool would make it to the semifinals in the men’s section, while top two teams from each pool would make it to the semifinals.

The mega event is being held at thirteen venues in Punjab – Patiala, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Sangrur, Roop Nagar, Doda, Chohla Sahib, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Mansa, Bathinda, Jalandhar and Ludhiana.

The championship will run till December 15
