The Bengal Warriorz (BEN) and the Patna Pirates (PAT) square off in the final match of the second leg of the PKL 11 group stage on Sunday, December 1, at the Noida Indoor Stadium.
The two teams have had contrasting seasons despite opting for a fairly heavy overhaul at the auction. Despite a promising start, the Warriorz's season has fizzled out, and they now sit at 11th place, with only three wins in 13 matches.
Meanwhile, the Pirates sit comfortably in 3rd place on the points table, with eight wins in 14 matches and the highest score difference of +79. They registered a resounding 54-29 win over the Bengaluru Bulls last time out, and will look to condemn the Warriorz to a similar fate.
Let's now look at the top three Dream11 surprise picks for this fixture.
#3 Siddhesh Tatkare (DEF) (BEN)
The Bengal Warriorz handed a PKL debut to left cover defender Siddhesh Tatkare in their 37-39 defeat to the Gujarat Giants. He secured one tackle point, and while it's not the best debut he could get, he's likely to retain his place in the starting 7 for this one.
A player with no prior experience thrown into the starting 7 in the middle of the campaign isn't the most attractive Dream11 option, but his poor ownership levels also means that he could be a highly impactful pick, especially for those taking part in Mega contests.
Against left raiders like Ayan and Sudhakar M in the Pirates' raiding unit, Siddhesh is a high-risk, high-reward Dream11 option.
#2 Gurdeep (ALL) (PAT)
Gurdeep was one of the Patna Pirates' marquee signings at the auction, with the three-time champions shelling out ₹50 lakh to acquire his services. While Arkam Shaikh took the left cover spot for a brief while, Gurdeep has reclaimed the position with a few strong performances off the bench.
While his numbers of six tackle points in as many appearances aren't the best, he is an experienced PKL player who has been in the league since Season 7, and can be backed to deliver. Playing for a Patna side that's expected to dominate this contest, he could be an interesting Dream11 surprise pick.
#1 Maninder Singh (RAI) (BEN)
Not many would've expected Maninder Singh to be on the list of Dream11 differentials for this fixture at the start of the season, but a difficult PKL 11 campaign for Maninder has coincided with a tough one for his team. With Devank and Ayan in top form, Maninder is an under-the-radar option when it comes to this clash.
However, after a long spell of games outside the squad, Maninder returned with a stellar Super 10 against the Gujarat Giants, albeit in a losing cause. His 64 raid points in 10 appearances are decent, although not what you'd expect from a player of his caliber.
A powerhouse raider like Maninder is always capable of registering mega Dream11 hauls, and if an opportunity exists to include him in your teams with him being a differential pick, it is definitely one that merits consideration.
