Dabang Delhi KC (DEL) and the Patna Pirates (PAT) face off in the 78th match of PKL 11 on Tuesday, November 26, at the Noida Indoor Stadium.
Delhi are unbeaten in their last five matches and are flying right now, riding on the performances of Ashu Malik and a solid defensive unit, with Naveen Kumar's slow return to form their only concern. They enter this match full of confidence after beating the Jaipur Pink Panthers by a 14-point margin in their previous fixture.
The Pirates, meanwhile, have been putting in consistent performances throughout the season and arguably deserve more than the seven wins they have next to their name. However, they could do better in finishing on the right side of close matches, especially after their recent 42-44 defeat to the UP Yoddhas.
However, after getting the better of Delhi in the reverse fixture, they'll back themselves to do so again, while Delhi will eye revenge.
Let's now look at the top three Dream11 surprise picks for this one.
#3 Navdeep Singh (DEF) (PAT)
Navdeep replaced the underwhelming Shubham Shinde in the Patna right corner ahead of their defeat to the Yoddhas, and despite the result, Navdeep acquitted himself decently, scoring two tackle points, second only to Deepak Singh for a Patna defender.
A defender capable of playing anywhere across the defensive line and has shown some impressive instincts so far, Navdeep could be a handy Dream11 differential if he starts in this match as well. Given how the Pirates tend to dominate games they win, he could also benefit from all-out points if they get on a roll against Delhi.
#2 Gaurav Chillar (DEF) (DEL)
The Dabang Delhi KC right cover Gaurav Chillar could have another solid evening against the Pirates, with the same also making him an excellent Dream11 option. He scored two useful tackle points in Delhi's win over the Jaipur Pink Panthers, and his defensive outing against the likes of Devank and Sandeep Kumar will go a long way in determining how his side fares in this encounter.
With nine tackle points in five appearances so far, Gaurav has had a solid tournament, and with even 2-3 tackle points enough to earn a decent Dream11 haul for a defender, Gaurav could be an excellent cut-price option.
#1 Naveen Kumar (RAI) (DEL)
Very rarely do you see a raider of Naveen Kumar's caliber labeled a Dream11 differential, but a slew of slow performances and the talent available in the raiders' category in this fixture have meant that the Naveen Express could create a huge impact for his Dream11 backers if he joins the party tonight.
Even though we call it a slow start to the season, Naveen has scored 36 raid points in six outings, and those are pretty solid numbers for any raider. With the Pirates' defense vulnerable after a poor outing against the Yoddhas, this could be the perfect game for a Naveen Express Super 10.
The points ceiling is too high for this player and he could be an explosive Dream11 differential pick.
