The Gujarat Giants and the Puneri Paltan face off in the 84th match of Pro Kabaddi 2024 on Friday, November 29, at the Noida Indoor Stadium.
The Giants have finally found some momentum in their campaign as they enter this match on the back of successive wins, with the most recent one a close 39-37 triumph over the Bengal Warriorz. They still have quite a way to go to put themselves in the reckoning in the hunt for a top-half finish, and a win against the defending champions would be a great first step.
The Paltan, meanwhile, enter this game after losing their last two, and with only one win in their last seven. While they're still comfortably poised to make the playoffs, more defeats and turbulent results could hurt their campaign, and that's something they can't afford.
This is a must-win contest for both teams, and it's now time to look at three potential Dream11 surprise picks in this fixture.
#3 Priyank Chandel (DEF) (GUJ)
The left cover position has been one that has troubled the Giants this season, and while they've tried out multiple players like Vahid Rezaeimehr, Balaji D, and Rohit, they now appear to have settled on Priyank Chandel as their starting left cover.
With Dream11 ownership of less than 1%, he could be a very powerful Dream11 differential if he delivers in this fixture, and it could be a risk worth taking for those playing mega contests, simply because of the scale of the upside he could generate.
He has made only two appearances this season, and despite blanking in the first, he did score two tackle points against Bengal. Against a Puneri Paltan raiding unit that has a few left raiders, he has a chance of producing a decent Dream11 haul.
#2 Himanshu (ALL) (GUJ)
The Gujarat Giants' right corner Himanshu, who is classified as an all-rounder on Dream11, could be a high-scoring differential in this fixture. Perhaps due to the relatively higher points tally of the Puneri Paltan players or the Giants' lesser stature in comparison to their opposition, Himanshu's ownership has dropped to differential levels, but in an ideal world, they shouldn't.
He has scored 23 tackle points in ten matches and is in good form, scoring four vital tackle points in the Giants' win over the Warriorz less than 48 hours ago. Playing in the right corner against a team with a struggling raiding unit that has had many unsuccessful raids on their left, Himanshu has the potential to haul big, and is a powerful Dream11 surprise pick.
#1 Akash Shinde (RAI) (PUN)
The perennially under-rated Akash Shinde makes another appearance as an under-valued Dream11 differential option. The left-raider hasn't had the best of times in Paltan's recent outings, but his overall record of 56 points in 12 appearances isn't bad by any means.
He'll begin his raids in and mostly target the weaker right side of the Gujarat defense, he could find plenty of success in that region if he starts well in this fixture. A player with an insanely high points ceiling and plenty of point-scoring potential, he could be a valuable Dream11 surprise pick for this one.
