The 1st ‘Women’s World Cup Kabaddi 2012′ will take place from 1-4 March 2012 in Patna, Bihar. President of Amateur Kabaddi Federation Of India Janardan Singh Gahlot said that Mamta Pujari, who plays for Railways, will lead India in the upcoming World Cup. He also said that “as our women’s team is performing outstandingly from the last 7 years, we are expecting not less than a gold for our team”. He added that “we are working very hard to bring Kabaddi in the Olympics, we are organizing some big tournaments in different parts of the world so that the game gets more popularity.”
The ‘Women WORLD CUP Kabaddi 2012′ will be organized by Government of Bihar on the occasion of “Bihar Sthapana Divas” under the auspices of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, Asian Kabaddi Federation and International Kabaddi Federation. The tournament will feature 16 teams from the all over the world which are USA, Malaysia, Mexico, Chinese Taipei, China, Italy,Sri Lanka, Canada, Nepal, Japan, Iran, Korea, Bangladesh,Indonesia, England, Thailand and India. The championship will be played under floodlights on synthetic mat at the indoor Stadium in Patna.
Indian team for the World Cup has been announced – Mamta Pujari(Captain), Deepika Henry(Vice captain), Suvarna Baaratke, Priyanka Negi, Priyanka, Kavita Devi, Abhilasha Mhatre, Pramila, Krishna, R. Nagalakshmi, Vindhyavasini Sinha, Shanhan Devi and Ranjitha.
