The Kabaddi Federation Cup enters its knockout stages, as heavyweights Maharashtra, Karnataka, Services and Haryana make their way to the semifinals after a tumultuous round robin stage.
Maharashtra, who have Rishank Devadiga in their ranks, managed to sneak their way to the last four after the star raider initiated a late surge to help them earn a 52-49 victory over Rajasthan. They further went on to finish unbeaten in the group stage, as romped to a 32-24 win over Haryana.
Meanwhile, Karnataka, who had lost their first match at the hands of Indian Railways, came back strongly to beat Services and booked their spot in the last four stages of the tournament.
Services, who are led by Pro Kabaddi League's highest paid player Nitin Tomar, have made it to the last four stages on the back of a brilliant performance against Indian Railways, a match that they won by a massive 41-29 margin. Despite their loss at the hands of Karnataka, they managed to make through to the semis
Tomar had put in a good performance to earn his side the win, and had even put in a massive four-point raid, to turn the scores around against Railways. He was ably supported by Patna Pirates man Monu Goyat.
Rishank Devadiga will be looking to lead home side Maharashtra out on the mat in the first semifinal on Monday, as they face a stern challenge from Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Haryana won both their group stage encounters, defeating Uttar Pradesh 37-23 and Rajasthan 46-43, lead by the star-studded du of Manjeet Chhillar and Anup Kumar. they are set to face Services in the semis.
