From being rejected at the SAI trials in 2007 to becoming the star raider for Dabang Delhi in the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League, Indian international Kashiling Adake has come a long way.
His dynamic performances in season 3 were the shining light for the franchise, as they battled injuries to key players and disappointment in terms of results. Having made it to the national team on the back of his performances in season 2, the Eagles’ star raider Kashi had a lot of pressure of performing in season 3.
There was also the point of showing that he belonged at the very top, after he finished the second season as the league’s highest raid pointscorer with 114 points. However, even his brilliant showing in the recently concluded season of the Pro Kabaddi League couldn’t help the Eagles finish higher up in the table.
After losing a series of matches to start the season 3, the Eagles’ first win came in their 8th match of the campaign, against Bengaluru Bulls with Kashi and Selvamani combining well to gather 15 points and help the Eagles register their opening win of the campaign.
Though the team didn’t have a good season, Kashi's long-standing record of scoring a mammoth total of 24 points in a single game still stands, despite Pardeep Narwal equaling the same this season. That itself shows the levels he is capable of reaching and points to a very bright future.
He also finished the season in the top 10 for raid points, taking 8th spot with 75 points. What makes that achievement even more admirable is that he did it despite not playing all the 14 matches. He missed one match while he was on national duty at the South Asian Games, and a couple more due to minor niggles. Also, apart from Rahul Chaudhari, all the other raiders on the list have played more matches than Kashi, showing how he scores his points in great bursts.
The 23-year old Maharashtra-based raider has 305 raid points to his name in his Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League career, which were scored through 235 successful raids. In terms of total raid points, he stands 3rd in the league, trailing just Rahul Chaudhari and Anup Kumar. In season 3, Kashi averaged 5 successful raids per match and scored a total of 75 raid points, which showed how consistent he was for the raiding department of the Eagles.
Dabang Delhi fans would be optimistic of their team’s performance in the upcoming edition of the Star Sports PKL and after witnessing Kashi’s performances this season, they would he hopeful of better results in the near future.
