The Senior Kabaddi National Championships are all set to start at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on December 31, which will feature the best players from across the country facing off.
While fans are used to see their favourite stars in the colours of their respective Pro Kabaddi League teams, this competition, which will be telecast on Star Sports from the knockout stage onwards, will feature the top players from the country play for their respective states or employers.
After the list of probables for Maharashtra was revealed earlier, their final squad has also been announced and it has a major name missing from it. Patna Pirates star Vishal Mane, who won the PKL title with the team earlier this year, has not made the cut for the 12-man squad.
Even Mahendra Rajput, the Gujarat FortuneGiants raider, has only made it to the reserve list and does not feature in the 12-member list. He reached the final with the Gujarat side and performed well towards the later stages of the competition but finds himself as a standby player for the Championships.
The team will be led by UP Yoddha star Rishank Devadiga, who will have a host of other Pro Kabaddi stars to call upon.
Sachin Shingade and Girish Ernak, two reputed defenders will large Pro Kabaddi experience will be in action. Shingade won the title with Patna in Season 5 while Ernak was a rock at the back for the Puneri Paltan.
In attack, along with Devadiga, veteran Nitin Madane, who had a stop-start season with U Mumba, and Telugu Titans star Nilesh Salunke are expected to lead the line.
