Haryana Steelers head coach Manpreet Singh has downplayed the growing narrative of a rivalry between his team and the Patna Pirates, calling it nothing but "bullsh*t." The comments came in response to widespread speculation about a heated new feud between the two Pro Kabaddi League 2024 powerhouses following their fiery clashes earlier this season.
In a video posted by Gameonbynewj on Instagram that discussed the potential rivalry brewing between Haryana Steelers and Patna Pirates, Manpreet Singh commented with a single word:
"Bullshit"
His blunt response has added fuel to an already simmering storyline in PKL 2024.
The tension between the two teams began during their December 6 reverse fixture at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune. Haryana Steelers edged out Patna Pirates 42-36, but the game was marred by controversial umpiring decisions. Both Devank Dalal, Patna’s star raider, and Manpreet Singh received yellow cards for heated arguments with officials.
Adding to the drama, Haryana had already defeated Patna earlier in the season, securing a 37-32 victory in their first encounter. Following the second loss, Devank Dalal voiced his frustration over the officiating, alleging bias against his team and issuing an open challenge to Haryana. Devank further stated that the Pirates were ready to show aggression if the Steelers wanted to play that way.
When is Haryana Steelers vs Patna Pirates’ next match in Pro Kabaddi 2024?
With the league stage coming to a conclusion, Manpreet Singh's Haryana Steelers have emerged as the top team, finishing with an impressive 16 wins in 22 games and earning a direct spot in the semifinals. Patna Pirates, on the other hand, also secured a playoff berth with 13 wins in 22 games, but they’ll first need to navigate the eliminators to stay in contention.
The two teams could potentially face off again in the semifinals or even the final, depending on their progress. Patna Pirates, who have lost both encounters against Haryana this season, will be eager to exact revenge.
