PKL 11: Bengal Warriors promote Prashant Surve to head coach position, name Praveen Yadav as his assistant

Former Pro Kabaddi League champions Bengal Warriors have promoted Prashant Surve from the position of assistant coach to head coach. Surve will be the team's head coach for the upcoming PKL season.

The Warriors recently announced that they were parting ways with head coach K Baskaran ahead of the new season. Surve, who worked as Baskaran's assistant in the last two seasons, will be the Bengal-based franchise's new head coach, while Praveen Yadav will be his assistant now.

Surve expressed gratitude to the Bengal Warriors team owner for promoting him. He ensured that his goal is to make Bengal proud by bringing his best at the auction table and then getting the best out of the players.

“I am delighted that the Capri Sports owned Bengal Warriors franchise have shown immense faith in me by asking me to take over as the head coach of the team. We are committed to put our best efforts, whether it is the auctions or on the mat to make the people of Bengal proud," Surve said in a media release (via myKhel).

It is pertinent to note that Bengal did not qualify for playoffs in the two seasons where Surve was the assistant coach. It will be interesting to see how the team performs now with Surve as the head coach.

Praveen Yadav has never worked as a coach in the Pro Kabaddi League before, but he has enormous experience of playing kabaddi. A former kabaddi player himself, Yadav had been providing kabaddi traning free of cost to kids at Gurugram's Tau Devilal Stadium for the last seven years.

Praveen is the son of Balram Yadav, who hails from Kheda Patoda region of Haryana. His experience can benefit the Warriors a lot in the upcoming tournament.
