Haryana Steelers captain Jaideep Dahiya has finally explained the meaning behind his unique celebration in the last raid of the Pro Kabaddi 2024 Final. Jaideep only went in for an empty raid because his team had a lead of nine points with only a few seconds to go. Hence, he laid down on the mat near the mid-line and gave a send-off to the Patna Pirates.

The tagline of the Pirates is 'Panna Palat Denge', which means they will turn the pages. To give a send-off to them, Haryana skipper Jaideep gestured as if he were tearing the pages of a book.

In the post-match press conference after the Pro Kabaddi League final, Jaideep Dahiya explained:

"Woh thoda yu tha ki woh uss team ne bol rakha tha ki hum panne paltenge, toh maine aise hi bataya ki hum panne nai paltenge, hum kitaab hi phaad denge (laughs)." (The opponent team said they will turn the pages, so I said I'll tear your entire book itself)

When asked if he had pre-planned this raid or if it was a last-minute decision, the Haryana captain replied:

"I had decided before itself that I will go in for the last raid, and I will show them what revenge means."

The previous match between Haryana and Patna was an intense game during the league stage, where coach Manpreet Singh and raider Devank Dalal received suspensions for arguing with the referees. A new rivalry seems to have started in PKL this season.

"Rohit Sharma lifted it the same way"- Haryana Steelers captain Jaideep Dahiya on his trophy celebration

After Indian captain Rohit Sharma lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy in a unique way, many others have replicated that while lifting the trophy. Haryana Steelers captain Jaideep Dahiya joined that list.

When asked about the meaning behind the way he celebrated the trophy win, Jaideep said:

"Rohit Sharma lifted it the same way, even in football tournaments we have seen, so yes that was the reason for the way we lifted the trophy."

While Haryana Steelers have won the PKL 2024 trophy, Patna Pirates will be keen to avenge the defeat next season. The dates for PKL 2025 should be announced soon.
