The Haryana Steelers will be up against the UP Yoddhas in the semi-final 1 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2024 on Friday, December 27, at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune.
Haryana qualified for the semi-final 1, finishing first on the points table with 16 wins and six losses. They entered the playoffs on the back of a comfortable win over the U Mumba 47-30. Shivam Pathare led the raiding department with 14 points while Mohammadreza Shadloui and Rahul Sethpal secured a High-5 each.
Meanwhile, the UP Yoddhas finished third with 13 wins, six losses, and three ties and qualified for the playoffs. They defeated Jaipur Pink Panthers 46-18 in the Eliminator 1 and secured their semi-finals spot.
Last year, Haryana finished as the runner-up of the Pro Kabaddi League 2023,, while UP failed to qualify. They ended up in 11th position with just four wins and 17 losses.
The Haryana Steelers defeated the UP Yoddhas 30-28 in the first meeting of PKL 11 in October. However, the Yoddhas made a fine comeback in the reverse fixture and pulled off a comprehensive win in Pune by 31-24.
Bhavani Rajput was the wrecker-in-chief for the Yoddhas with a Super-10, Bharat Hooda scored three raid points, and captain Sumit Sangwan secured three tackle points.
Vinay and substitute Vishal Tate scored six raid points each for the Steelers while Mohammadreza Shadloui executed four successful tackles.
