Veteran Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) star Rishank Devadiga, renowned for his exceptional raiding skills and clutch performances, has unveiled his all-time PKL Playing seven. As a do-or-die specialist, Rishank carved out a stellar career in the league's first eight seasons, including a championship win with U Mumba. Now transitioning into commentary, the former kabaddi ace continues to make an impact off the mat.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Rishank disclosed his dream team, featuring a blend of iconic players and current stars. His selection reflects a well-rounded strategy, including three raiders and four defenders, with Anup Kumar, fondly called 'Captain Cool', leading the side.
Interestingly, big names like Pardeep Narwal and Pawan Sehrawat did not find a place in Rishank’s lineup, reflecting his unique perspective on team composition.
Rishank Devadiga's dream team includes players from various seasons, emphasizing skill and leadership. Here is his all-time PKL 7:
Mohammadreza Shadloui (Left Corner), Anup Kumar (Captain and Right Raider), Arjun Deshwal (Right Raider), Manjeet Chillar (Left Cover), Sunil Kumar (Right Cover), Aslam Inamdar (Left Raider) and Ravinder Pahal (Right Corner)
This team highlights a strong defensive setup with experienced stalwarts like Ravinder Pahal, Manjeet Chillar, and Mohammadreza Shadloui anchoring the corners and covers. On the raiding front, Anup Kumar’s strategic gameplay complements the flair of present stars Arjun Deshwal and Aslam Inamdar.
Notably, three players - Shadloui, Deshwal, and Inamdar are active participants in the ongoing season of the PKL.
Rishank Devadiga enjoying life in the commentary box
Having last played for Bengal Warriorz in Season 8, Rishank Devadiga has smoothly transitioned into a commentator and analyst for PKL
Reflecting on his experience behind the mic, he shared:
“I am really enjoying doing commentary. I always thought that when I stopped playing, I would do commentary. I want to share my understanding of the game with everyone, and I have got this opportunity.”
Acknowledging the initial challenges many kabaddi players face with public speaking, Rishank expressed his hope to inspire others to take up commentary.
“Most of the kabaddi players are not very comfortable in front of the mic and camera. It has been two to three seasons for me, so I have become quite comfortable now. Someone has to start, and I have taken the initiative now. I want that in the coming time other players will also join, then it will be a lot of fun," he added.
Rishank’s journey from player to commentator reflects his commitment to promoting kabaddi, on and off the mat. With his all-time playing seven and his passion for commentary, he continues to inspire fans and players alike.
