The kabaddi fever is back with the inaugural edition of the Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League (UPKL 2024), scheduled to commence on July 11 in Noida. The Noida Indoor Stadium will host the two-week-long tournament until July 25.
Kings of Mirzapur will head into this competition with four PKL players on their roster and will be coached by Arvind Kumar Pandey. Anil Chaudhary, Mohit Baliyan, Rupesh Tomar, and Vipin Malik will hold the key for the Kings, having played in the Pro Kabaddi League.
Former U Mumba player Mohit Baliyan was the team's costliest purchase, costing them ₹1.4 lakhs.
Anil Chaudhary was signed for ₹1 lakh at the UPKL 2024 auction. He made his PKL debut with U.P. Yoddhas in Season 9. Overall, the raider has earned 49 points from 21 matches across two seasons.
Rupesh Tomar started his PKL career with Telugu Titans in PKL Season 1. In his debut season, he earned five points from as many games. Over the next couple of seasons with the Titans, he bagged 13 points from nine outings.
Tomar last played in the Pro Kabaddi League for Dabang Delhi K.C. in the fifth edition of the tournament. In PKL 2017, he earned a point from the only match he played, bringing an end to his PKL career.
Vipin Malik, on the other hand, featured for Dabang Delhi K.C. in his only PKL season. The raider failed to impress, having earned no points from both matches he played.
