Hello everyone!
After six exciting contests, we welcome you to the last match of the first leg of Pro Kabaddi 2016 Season 4. Every team has now played at least one match in the league and today we have Dabang Delhi facing Puneri Paltan at the latter’s home stadium.
Both the teams will be going into the match on the back of disappointing losses. While Delhi lost to last season's semi-finalists Bengal Warriors, Puneri Paltan faced defeat at the hands of defending champions Patna Pirates. The match is going to present both the teams a good opportunity to gain some momentum before going into the next leg in Jaipur.
Puneri Paltan had started the tournament on a bright note as they won two back to back contests, first against Telugu Titans before thumping U Mumba in their second match. In their third encounter, the team, however looked a pale shadow of themselves that played the first two matches and surrendered meekly to Patna, who were playing their first game.
For the team, tiredness would be the thing to guard against as they, being the home team, will be playing its 4th match in 4 days. Fatigue played a major part in their lacklustre performance against Patna. Moreover, if Pune goes on to lose this encounter, it will undo all the good work they did at the start of the tournament.
The match is going to be even more crucial for Dabang Delhi who are yet to open their account in the points table after they lost 31-23 to Bengal Warriors yesterday. The team lacked coordination, which isn’t entirely surprising given that they have pretty much built a team from scratch ahead of this season. What would also be an area of concern for the team would be the form of star raider Kashiling Adake who looked out of sorts in their first encounter, not only as a raider but also a captain.
Delhi would be desperate to get some points under their belt before the caravan moves to Jaipur. They will have to tighten their defence and they have the required men for the job. However, the team will be hoping to perform like a well-oiled machine, something which they failed to do against Bengal.
For Puneri Paltan, Captain Manjeet Chhillar has looked as good as anyone in this season till now. The raider Ajay Thakur, who was well contained by the Patna defence, will be looking to bounce back to repeat his heroics against U Mumba. Delhi’s Meraj Sheykh was all over the Bengal Warriors on Monday and would hope to find more support from his teammates when they take on Patna.
