The 2018 Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season saw the Bengaluru Bulls claim their first-ever title in a thrilling finale against Gujarat Giants. The Bulls, led by a determined squad and the strategic brilliance of coach Randhir Singh Sehrawat, defeated the Giants 38-33 in the final, ending years of near misses with a much-deserved victory.
The season was marked by standout individual performances, with some players cementing their legacies while others made memorable debuts.
Here’s a closer look at the top raiders and defenders who dominated PKL Season 6.
Most Raid Points in Pro Kabaddi 2018
Pawan Sehrawat was the heart and soul of Bengaluru Bulls’ title-winning campaign. The "Hi-Flyer" led the raiding charts with a staggering 271 raid points in 24 matches, donning the green sleeve as the top raider of the season.
Right behind him was Pardeep Narwal, the "Record Breaker," who once again was brilliant. Pardeep earned 233 raid points in 21 matches for Patna Pirates.
Siddharth Desai was the revelation of the season. Making his debut for U Mumba, Desai stunned fans and opponents alike with his ability to raid under pressure, finishing third with 218 raid points in 21 matches.
Maninder Singh of Bengal Warriorz continued to shine, finishing fourth with 206 raid points in 22 outings. Following him was the ever-reliable Ajay Thakur, whose 203 raid points kept Tamil Thalaivas in the mix.
Deepak Niwas Hooda (196 raid points) and Sachin Tanwar (190 raid points) added flair to their respective teams while Naveen Kumar and Vikash Kandola announced their arrival in style with 172 raid points each, sharing the eighth spot.
Naveen, in particular, began to show glimpses of his future as the "Naveen Express." Rounding out the top 10 was Rohit Kumar, who provided stellar support to Pawan Sehrawat with 162 raid points in 24 matches.
Most Tackle Points in Pro Kabaddi 2018
While the raiders grabbed headlines, the defenders were no less impressive, with Nitesh Kumar stealing the show. The UP Yoddhas’ right corner made history by becoming the first player to reach 100 tackle points in a single PKL season. His century of tackle points in 25 games still stands as an unbeaten record in PKL.
Trailing far behind but still noteworthy was Gujarat Giants’ Parvesh Bhainswal, who amassed 86 tackle points in 25 games. Fazel Atrachali, the Iranian stalwart, took the third spot with 83 tackle points in 23 games for U Mumba.
Sunil Kumar, with 76 tackle points in 25 matches, rounded out Gujarat’s stellar defensive duo with Parvesh.
Sandeep Kumar Dhull (67), Mahender Singh (63), and Surender Singh (62) were vital for their respective teams, consistently delivering key tackles in crunch moments, followed by Vishal Bhardwaj, with 60 tackle points. Veterans Manjeet Chillar and Ravinder Pahal shared the ninth spot with 59 tackle points each.
